Atlas Shrugged Producer Says Atlas Not For Everyone
"if you feel a sense of entitlement - as in the government owes you something - simply because you exist, Atlas [Shrugged] is not a story for you. You are whom we are warning against."

I heard a radio ad for this movie yesterday, featuring a couple dialogue clips from the movie.

I have to say, at least from what I heard, the dialogue was very wooden. In other words, the acting sounded very bad.

The words were good though. To paraphrase, the thing that caught my ear was, "If you believe you have the power to force me, you'd better bring guns."

I just wish that conservatives would make some bigger strides toward catching up in the pop-culture wars. Victories are too few and too far between on that front.

It sounds that way even on the written page.  Rand's characterization , in my humble opinion, leaves much to be desired.  The books endurance is based on the truth it tells, not that it does so in a particularly well written fashion.  The basic story and sequences of events are perfect, but execution is wordy and often missing a "human" element.  Azimov had the same problem "bringing his characters to life"  as well, in my opinion.

However, this episode should include the D'Anconia  speech on Money,  which if done well, will be entirely worth the price of admission.

As you can see here, the photo is from Atlas Shrugged: Part II. As you may recall, Judge Kozinski gave its predecessor film, Atlas Shrugged: Part I, a very enthusiastic recommendation:

Well written will improve ticket sales, though.

We just got back from the movie and since I did see the first one I enjoyed getting mad at the second one too. It to my mind is well worth seeing even though it pissed my wife off because of the similarities to what's happening to this country.

I am sorry that it is upsetting, but she SHOULD be pissed off. This is a terrible situation, and the sooner we react, the less terrible our reaction must be. Let us hope we have awakened enough of us in time.

Saw the movie Friday and thought that it was good. the story it tells is what's important. I saw the first one too when it came out a coupla years ago or so. The author may not be the best story teller in the world, but she did a good job of foretelling the future relevance of socialism and how it effects society and government.

I like the line that it used a few times "feed the beast", while the 'beast' is devouring you. That's exactly what it feels like right now. Big government is feeding off of the producers and devouring them at the same time.

This is a story of how they dealt with it. We've yet to deal with it. What will our story be like?
