Well, don't stop there.
Add Bill Kristol to the list for suggesting that raising taxes on millionaires is maybe not so bad.
Add Sean Hannity to the list for suggesting that amnesty is something that we should probably take a look at.
Add John Boehner to the list for his clever poker playing technique of turning his cards face up on the table before the betting starts.
It's a total right wing meltdown and apparently there are many who want get in on the game.

What more can we expect from the party that was unable to defeat the worst president in American history, who is openly bent on the destruction of the country he supposedly leads?

Not as long as there is a buck to be made by flapping their jaws.
Sort of a modified version of playing one's violin while Rome burns.

I predict total Republican meltdown in 2014. I won't vote Republican ever again, short of government shut down that actually holds. Off to 3rd parties for me.
What will rise from the ashes will be much more more extreme and nasty, to counter extreme and nasty. We won't be a better country for it.
-
This is about the time where I start to once again entertain my fantasies of becoming a mercenary for a small country in Latin America or Africa somewhere, trying to defend itself against communist scum. I wish the fight for Rhodesia hadn't ended 30+ years ago. That would have been an obvious choice.
-
I hate to say it but I'm probably done voting. There just isn't much point to it after this election. The country is beyond help at this point.
As far as I'm concerned, you break it...you own it. And they did.
The "99%" just voted for fiscal irresponsibility, socialism (near marxism), etc. They can reap the whirlwind and they will.
Let them vote to fix it. It won't happen, of course. They will continue to vote for higher taxes, more spending and more free stuff.
It's over. America's best days are demonstrably behind it. Never thought that I would live to see the day. I am sad for my children.
I would be proud of the R's in congress if they voted against raising the debt ceiling but,
1) they won't vote against it and,
2) even if they did I still can't be bothered to vote again after this debacle.
I won't be hiring any new employees. I won't be expanding or building my business. It will wither and die like lots and lots of other small businesses. Whoopee.
Yeah, I'm giving up.
What's the point?
I held out hope for the last four years that we would send this moron packing and get someone, anyone who could restore the country to some semblance of fiscal discipline but that hope died.
Limbaugh has been saying for over a year (maybe two) that he believed that the country could survive four more years of BO but could not survive with a majority that would vote for him. I ask, "What's the difference?"

Another "tone" article, hmm?
She ain't seen nuthin' yet.

Let's be clear about another thing -- a very substantial portion of the GOP insider class needs to be bending street lamps right along with the other statist enemies of the Republic.

In very tangible ways the establishment GOP is more responsible for the downfall of the country than the Leftists. They were charged with fighting evil. But they avoided evil, denied evil, tolerated evil, accommodated evil, accepted evil, assisted evil, participated in evil, partnered with evil, and thus, themselves became evil.
But even worse, they are not evil masterminds. No. The GOP establishment are the whimpering lapdogs of Satan.

For decades they have corralled the conservative vote, then decisively and strategically denied it the fruits of political victory. Other than a brief few flashes during the Reagan years, when have the Republicans ever actually reversed anything the Left had previously perpetrated? Or even attempted to reverse it? The best you could ever hope for from the GOP was a holding pattern. Fecklessness like that is never rewarded politically. Middle of the road voters tended to view them as just a bunch of do-nothing know-nothings, and control inevitably went back to the Democrats. And the Democrats, they always capitalize on political victory.
This paradigm has been so damned consistent and for so long I don't think it's conspiratorial to suggest that much of the leadership in the GOP sees their role as doing exactly what I state at the beginning: corralling the conservative vote and then keeping it away from the levers of power.

Yup.
G, you're "This is about the time where I start to once again entertain my fantasies of becoming a mercenary for a small country in Latin America or Africa somewhere" line made me chuckle, I had those fantasies about 20 years ago, I guess when you are in your 30's that is attractive, now in my 50's I am more interested in getting up close and nasty with the perpetrators in my immediate vacinity...or just sitting out and let the Devil get his fill, either way...optimism has given way to reality, and the reality ain't gonna be pretty...
Damn them! Damn them all to Hell!

Solution: TEA PARTY

The Republican Party is dead, it's just coasting on inertia.
Three million didn't vote this time, how many are going to stay home next time? We need an alternative NOW. If we have another election we need to present a loyal opposition not a Suck Up Party.

Yeah, I believe the Tea Party is where I'll throw my support. I'll continue to work to keep my state conservative. The blue part of the country can go to hell. The conservative governors need to collaborate and work as one.
Hopefully, before I die, we can have one more run where the death taxes, the estate taxes, etc, are knocked down so I can sell out and protect assets for my son.

Apparently, most of us.

My dad had a fraternity brother, Dick Tenille, from Rhodesia. (He came to the U.S. to learn about tobacco farming NC State, class of 1949). I got to meet him a couple of times, and my parents went to their farm to visit. Once. Mother said too many Blacks with machine guns needed to protect the white farmers, (1970s). But they got to see Lake Victoria, the head of the Nile River and other beautiful sights.
And just like the once beautiful California, burned over now by Progressivism and Communism.

I've read her piece several times and it solidifies my thoughts in which we must corral at least 1/2 of the media. There are so many like noonen, even the more conservative, who may offer a critical thought (at times rightly so) only to have us beaten around our heads over the criticism. Why? We don't control the narrative, can't control the narrative, the people have the attention span and intelligence of a turnip and we are overwhelmed in sheer volume of liberal media. People don't pay attention....but the sheer volume of outlets, pundits and avenues for the unconscience to be inundated is beating us. Sure, us political junkies know where to turn, but the average turnip doesn't.
I've fell into the trap of looking at the lack of viewers of liberal news...then looking at Fox as number 1. Fox is number 1 because republicans literally have no other a venue and guess what, the turnips don't watch, at least not enough. Plus, the rest can focus their attacks on one.
We need to get back to the days where cities had two papers, one normally conservative. We need control of one of the major networks. We need another cable conservative voice. We are never gonna get our message mainstream until we do.

I've been barking that at people for decades. I have gotten the cold shoulder from old school Club for Growth jackasses so much I feel they almost qualify as former dates! The monied interests are not interested in giving "conservatives" a media voice, they figure we have Limbaugh and a few others, which to them is too many anyway...we are to stay penned up in a tiny fraction of the radio & TV spectrum (and blogosphere) and are expected to STFD and STFU and do as the Ruling Class says, especially with regard to candidate selection and policy! Breitbart had the right idea, end run the media, start building an empire, but one man cannot do it. Beck has the right idea with BeckTV, but again, he is marginalized to the fringe and represents only the peaceful wing of Resistance. What is needed is for all these people to band together and make one giant TV/Radio/Print/Blogosphere holding company to get the message out 24/7/365. But even if that were to happen, it would be too little too late...the time for this to be already in place was at least a dozen years ago.
This nation as we knew is gone, it has to be recreated only through peaceful or violent separation. I see no other way out.
