Foreshocks, the Big One, and aftershocks.  Mostly aftershocks.  Lots of aftershocks.  A frickin' sh*tload of aftershocks.

All I have heard in the media is when the hit a 6 or higher, sometimes they mention "several" but provide nothing more.  There are so many near that one spot where the plates meet...a lot of stress being released...who knows where or how strong the next big release will happen, but the "ring of fire" sure has been active the past couple of years.
