I think it's just another conspicuous finger in the eye from Obama and company. They know how conservatives dislike the haughty "we need to be more like enlightened Europe" advocates.

The other finger being the Hagel nomination.  Hagel, he's O'Bongo's William Cohen sans intelligence, personality or antisemitism...but even easier to do his Master's bidding...

No byline on that crap.  I just wondered if (anonymous JournoLister here) leg was tingling, after thinking about this star.
