With the purgings going on I worry more about who is telling who to do what and to whom and when and not question why.
Maybe that's just me. . .

That's one aspect. Another one is China, Russia and the NoKo's using our satellites for target practice. That would send us into an analogue world with no analogue equipment. Whereas they (I suspect) are analogue rich.

That was always the old Soviet response too, low-tech and overwhelming numbers, the lesson being to not put all your eggs in one basket, one must have backup plans, and more than one.
I think too the space wars are perhaps relying a little too bit on the MAD theory - you shoot ours we'll shoot yours, now lets see who does better.
Problem with that bluff is being able to back it up should you be called.
