Senate Allowing Huge Influx of Afghan Refugees to US

Buried deep within the Senate immigration bill is a provision on page 450 that will allow three times the amount of Afghan refugees to enter the United States under special asylum.
 
The bill also reduces restrictions placed on immigrants from Afghanistan, allowing more family members to join the asylum seekers.
 
Previously, up to 1,500 visas were available to Afghans each year. This new bill allows for up to 5,000 Afghans to enter the U.S. each year. While the old regulations allowed for only those employed by the U.S. government to enter the country, the new bill’s regulations on employment are far less restrictive.
