My mens Bible study just concluded a series entitled 'gods @ War' by Kyle Idleman - the 'god' being anything that distracts us from, or begins to take the place of, pursuing a relationship with Christ. We all stumble & struggle - the key is getting back up.
I also follow Sports Quotes on Twitter. Today they tweeted something that could have been part of the curriculum for "gods.."

LOL! No, nothing to do with Zeus, Hermes or Poseidon (but maybe a l'il Aphrodite ;)) - more along the lines of
Matthew 6:24
You Cannot Serve God and Riches
24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
We often make "gods" out of areas of our lives; men especially: lust/sex, pornography, alcohol, money/greed, power, even hobbies or material possessions, etc. The course is about examining those "gods" and & confronting them so they do not eclipse time spent in the Word (in terms of personal importance).
