Title: First case of deadly Middle East virus lands in US
Post by: richb on May 02, 2014, 05:44:34 PM
Oh,  goody,  another third world import.   No,  not Muslims this time but the MERS virus (not that its better).   Oh,  the fun part,  its right here in the town next to my hometown in Northwest Indiana.

How the Hell do you get something from camel urine?

Nevermind. I just remembered where it came from.

Back in August, Walid wrote about the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) virus. (http://shoebat.com/2013/11/12/deadly-sars-like-virus-caused-drinking-camel-urine/)

Quote
At the time, suspicions about the deadly virus coming from camels caused camel meat inspections.  Suspicions about what animal the virus comes from may have been validated but how the virus is contracted by humans likely extends beyond camel meat.

...  Well, we’re not geniuses but if the owner of a non-deceased camel with MERS has the virus himself, it’s a safe bet he didn’t get sick from the camel being turned into meat (logical, right?). Perhaps the patient should be asked if he ever drank the camel’s urine, which isn’t all that uncommon in Saudi Arabia, where the virus seems to be concentrated.

Contrary to the beliefs of some, this is NOT healthy:

The benefits of drinking camel urine ... (http://islamqa.info/en/83423)

I read a book "in the belly of the green bird", forget the author, but it gave many examples of just how f**king stupid they are.
This fits that.

Hilarious.  Forgot about that.  And they say the culture of death has nothing to offer the world?!  Shame on those people!  They have plenty to offer us...

Suicide not involving innocent non-cultists for example, I would embrace that as a positive for the world!

Oh good GRIEF!!

Asked the NP about a TB vaccine this morning.  She said "we (as in The US) don't vaccinate against TB".  I'm gonna have to do some more research because I know once upon a time, we did.

Rutgers, NJ - http://globaltb.njms.rutgers.edu/tbhistory.htm (http://globaltb.njms.rutgers.edu/tbhistory.htm)

"...it is absolutely essential to treat TB patients with the recommended four drug regimen of isoniazid, rifampin, pyrazinamide, and ethambutol or streptomycin."

Doesn't sound like anything we'd have a easy/legal time hoarding for our TEOTWAWKI stash, eh?

In that event I guess shooting and burning the infected is all we can do and hope we didn't contract it!

Those drugs beat hell out of the liver -- sore and swollen -- and so, simultaneous blood testing is required, which I now realize is why people often don't complete a full course of treatment.  And, the medicos are usually not all that thrilled about treating the over-40 with them.
