If you have a Natural gas resource ( or want to build a gassifier and convert the burner..) this is potentially better than the Solar array.

The Beacon could eventually replace two of those appliances — the furnace and hot water heater — says Kamen.
F that. I want to power the whole house.
Why not offer the smaller version first? “A 2-kilowatt machine would make one-fifth the power, but wouldn’t cost just one-fifth the money,” says Kamen.
Guess I'd better get the 10k, then. I'd just have to sell the surplus to the electric company. ::cool::
Nothing said about fuel consumption, though.
