Title: Is having an FBI file that big a deal?
Post by: Libertas on October 22, 2014, 07:47:23 AM
Big deal?

Yes and no.

ZeroHedge like to stir up fear (http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-10-21/land-free-1-3-americans-are-file-fbi-us-police-state), and not all fear is bad or based incorrectly to the reality...

But to be fair here, apart from the obvious felons on file etc...there is also a file for each and every person who has ever served in the military in control of the Feds, used to be housed at Ft. Levenworth IIRC, not sure if it is all digitized now, but whatever, anybody having a Fed file anywhere is in the system and thus available to whoever has access, and all they do is keep adding to it however they can...

Dialing this back is not going to happen without landscape-altering change...

I do like the suggestion by commenter 12ToothAssassin to submit a Privacy Act request, but then if you are not on file and ask, I bet you just got put on file, so caveat emptor!

 ;)

And they need all these files why?

I know the answer.
