Title: Chicago's Cardinal Francis George, 78
Post by: richb on April 18, 2015, 03:35:41 AM
Cardinal Francis George passed at age 78 after a battle with cancer.   Was the cardinal until last year,  and was the first to retire rather then die in office.

Working in that town can't be easy...that I know nothing of the man at least is positive in the sense that he doesn't appear to have been one of those grandstanding liberals we've come to know and loath, so...RIP Francis, your work here is done.

George was one of the good guys in the Catholic Church.   More in line with Pope John Paul (the pope who gave him the Chicago job to begin with) then the present one.   He was often called "George the Corrector" as he tried to dial back some of the well know progressive priests (like Mike Pfleger) in Chicago.    His replacement however is in line with the new pope.
