I know by today's standards (the real standards) Fred was an establishment Republican to the core. But compared to others at the time, he was a relatively conservative fella, and I liked him. I really wanted him in '08 instead of McCain.
Rest in Peace Fred. Fred Thompson, 73 (http://www.tennessean.com/story/news/politics/2015/11/01/former-us-sen-fred-thompson-dies-73/74752142/)

So did I. I could never tell for sure if he was acting a part or what but he spoke quite convincingly. And then he dropped out. Despite that I still held him in regard. I always considered him an honorable guy.
RIP Fred.

RIP Fred. Oddly enough, I just watched The Hunt for Red October last night. Landed on it while channel surfing. Fred played the skipper of an aircraft carrier in that movie.

Great actor RINO voting record. RIP, Fred.

He was a decent guy, he was an Establishment guy bit not a back-stabbing POS one like is all too common today. He wouldn't be going after Tea Party people like Ted Cruz like Mytch or Johnny do, or using committee chairs as vassals.
RIP Fred.

I liked Fred. Like most republicans in Tennessee, as the years progressed so did they.
