Title: New Zealand Rocking
Post by: Libertas on February 22, 2011, 07:25:54 AM
Sure seems more active down there...the whole "ring of fire" seems to be quite active in fact.
Heard on the radio that the death toll is expected to rise.

Check out this animated map of all the aftershocks since the 7.1 quake on Sept. 4, 2010.  (The date format in the map is 4/9/2010).  There have been thousands.

The size of the circle corresponds to the magnitude, and the color corresponds to the depth.  You can pick individual days.  The destructive 6.3 one was on Tuesday, Feb. 22. (NZ is on the other side of the International Date Line.)

I get this big "Display Options" box that covers 1/2 the map.  Halp!

It doesn't look big when I try it.  Do you have a small monitor?  Have you tried enlarging your browser window?

On  7, the larger the browser the larger the box.
Now, the XP says no images available.

It looks like that whole lowland eastern area is going to be a shallow bay pretty soon.
