Title: Google's new algorithms
Post by: charlesoakwood on February 26, 2011, 08:36:25 PM

Search giant Google has changed the algorithms that prioritize results.
It claims there was blatant abuse, they should know, of its old algorithms and its search engine was being gamed.  Are they saying that others were becoming better at rigging the results than they are? Yes they are.
What they are not saying is that the information that was difficult to find before the change will be buried so deep you will never find it.  That's my opinion.

Google made one of the biggest changes ever to its search results this week, which immediately had a noticeable effect on many Web properties that rely on the world's biggest search engine to drive traffic to their sites. ...

Given what we know about the extreme Leftist politics of google, I would say that, yes, time will tell... but look for it. They've thrown their lot in with the far Left, and they have much power to aid the cause of the far Left. Why not expect them to use it to its full potential?

It wouldn't surprise me in the least to discover that google was providing detailed information to the government, or at least allowing the government access to it.

I can't remember the last time I googled.
If I ever fall into a bundle of money, or make teh acquaintance of a billionaire, I want to set up a competing search engine called "Red Rovertm"! I think that would do well.

I read with great interest an article at Hot Air (Green Room link http://hotair.com/greenroom/archives/2011/02/24/want-to-remove-huffington-post-from-your-google-search-results-heres-how/ (http://hotair.com/greenroom/archives/2011/02/24/want-to-remove-huffington-post-from-your-google-search-results-heres-how/)) about how Huff-Po specifically gamed the google algorithm.

...Facebook or Twitter? Those social networking links are becoming a bigger share of every news site's traffic; as one of my Slate colleagues pointed out, in the Twitter age, "optimizing for Google results is a little like going out and buying the best VCR on the market."
