How dare He suggest that Hollywood was full of commies..
That communists were infiltrating the government..

That the greatest danger to America was from those on the inside, not the outside..

The Left demonized him well.  That template goes back 50 years.  And they are much nastier about it today.  Just ask Sarah Palin.
