Title: Anyone have an AR-10 or M1A?

I am in the market for a semi-auto rifle in .308 (7.62 NATO), of military pattern. The most obvious choices seem to be either an AR-10 or Springfield M1A, based respectively on the M16 (upsized) and M14 rifles. Does anyone have any experience with these, or have alternative recommendations?
