A Pittance of Time - Terry Kelly (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYlrrAWCTRg#)

It's Canadian-based, I know, but applicable anyway.

There's a smallish community about 25 miles south of Seattle that hosts the west coast's largest Veteran's Day memorial and parade each year (since 1945). It was run by the local Lion's club until it grew so large that they needed the city's direction to orchestrate it.

I don't know why it was held last weekend instead of this weekend but I went to it and am sure glad that I did. I've been inundated with news stories that are increasing in their somber tone and depressing content. No sane person can do what the Øbumbler is doing without knowing that it is wrecking our economy. We are allowing the misfits of our society to crap in our public squares across America and the golfer~in~chief approves.

I needed something - some little whisper - that would assure me that everything hasn't turned to liquid babysh!t. I got it last weekend watching the assemblage of vets and their families, school marching bands, pipers, floats and antique cars, military vehicles, and an Air Force flyover - all viewed by an appreciative audience of several thousand.

It was a wonderful moment that has passed but the warm glow remains.

A warm and reverent Veteran's Day to one and all  ::USA::

...and now back to our regularly scheduled crisis...
