Title: Ann Coulter Jumps Shark… Praises Romneycare ...
Post by: Pandora on February 02, 2012, 06:30:56 AM
... After Trashing It in October. (http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2012/02/coulter-jumps-shark-praises-romneycare-after-trashing-it-in-october-video/)

Quote
Does anyone else long for the days when Ann Coulter was sane and conservative?
Back in October Ann Coulter trashed Romneycare.

But that was before she lost her mind.

Last week Coulter was attacking the tea party.

Today Coulter officially jumped the shark. Not only is she Mitt Romney’s biggest fan she is now praising state run health care.

This will make you want to vomit – Coulter even defends the individual mandate.

...

More… Mark Levin has a brilliant takedown of Coulter’s ridiculous arguments.

Coulter's column here:

http://www.anncoulter.com/columns/2012-02-01.html (http://www.anncoulter.com/columns/2012-02-01.html)

Levin's line-by-line, 30 minute rebuttal here:

http://www.therightscoop.com/mark-levins-rebuttal-of-ann-coulters-three-cheers-for-romneycare-article/ (http://www.therightscoop.com/mark-levins-rebuttal-of-ann-coulters-three-cheers-for-romneycare-article/)

I used to love Ann Coulter; now she is dead to me.  Traitor.

Of all the spectacles surrounding this election cycle I find Coulter's odd acceptance of Romney and her rejection of conservatism in order to justify it to be among the most inexplicable.

Ya think you know somebody....

Good luck with your new career as a Willard Romney groupee.

The Illuminati have her under mind control. The aliens put a chip in her head.  I have watched Ann for too many years. She knows better.

States certainly have more power than the Fed, but they also have Constitutions, and MA's was written by John Adams and was the primary model for the Federal constitution. Inalienable rights are still inalienable under a State government.  If a state wanted to mandate that no one could receive medical treatment without first proving they could pay ( via bond, insurance, or cash on hand)  they would have the power to do that. (though I would fight it tooth and nail - private hospitals and doctors should have a right to determine on their ownwhen and if they will provide service)  - but yes, States  have a right to "regulate" business, they don't have a right to force it to happen.  Just like the roads- I have to get a license and an emissions test  if I wish to use my personal vehicle on public property.  I have to get a Marriage license, and maybe a blood test, if I wish my union to be recognized by the public courts.  I am fine with that.  I can choose not to drive. I can choose to not get a marriage license.  There is no fine imposed on me by the government for refusing either service. Likewise, if (government) Hospitals had a right (or a mandate) to refuse service if I don't provide an ability to pay, then I can choose to not use their services, and must use the services of a private doctor, perhaps even in a different state or country.  I would not be punished by the state for making that choice, because I decided I was willing to pay the consequences of having to get my treatment elsewhere, just as I might decide I need to bum rides all of my life, or to not have any legal recourse if my wife leaves me.  These can be heavy and costly consequences, but at least I would be free to accept them without being punished.

The Mandate forces me into a contract without my consent, and implements a punishment  if choose to not live up to the terms of that contract. It is therefore a violation of my inalienable rights, and evil on its face.   Why Ann is willing to tow the establishment line on this is beyond me. Maybe the NWO does exist and Ann was just offered a nice Beachside mansion after the massacre of mankind.

I will not vote for Romney (or buy any more of Ann's books.) .  Period.  I am not voting for the GOP  establishmnet socialist squish  candidate because he is slightly better than the Democrat hard on commie.  They want to be the party of the squish. Let them. I  will not reward it. They want to alienate their base a second time. Go for it.    Let Obama win.  Let him own it. Or as Frank J said  "America is dying a slow death, and the best we can get is promises to make it an even slower death."  (http://www.imao.us/index.php/2012/02/random-thoughts-643/)

Maybe choosing a faster death would be better?  The Sheep won't realize there is a problem till it affects them, and an Obama second term ensures that it will sooner rather than later. We need them awake, and America at this point can't be saved using the tools as hand ( and Romney and Newt are such absolute tools)  We need the Senate. We can block Obama SCOTUS nominees from there.  Enough control of congress and we can pass amendments, and override Obama. Hell we can impeach him.  Ignore the presidential race. Congress is all that matters.

I pretty much gave up on Ann Coulter some time ago for--reasons--and when she became Chris Christie's head cheerleader it was completely over.

And it's sad and disheartening that she and so many Conservative pundits, whose opinions I have valued , have proven themselves to be more interested in aligning themselves with the Establishment Republicans and their subsidized paycheck than being an actual Conservative.  And they're terribly insulted and angry that real Conservatives are angry with them and feel so abandoned by them.  They obviously believe that we are so stupid and naive that we need them to tell us how to think and what to believe.  A lot like their liberal peers.

My daughter never did like her...now's she's feeling justified...she had a special invitation to see Coulter at some get together at CPAC several years ago and wouldn't go.  Appparently my daughter is an excellent judge of character.

Yup. That's really the galling thing about it all. If the Tea Party movement should have shown them ANYTHING, it is that the people are attuned, paying attention, ready to take control of our own destiny, strong, opinionated, and not to be pushed around or led by the nose. They didn't get the message.

Yes, her supporting Krispie Kreme Christie was the first crack in the facade.

Townhall has a piece, and a video, of her denigrating the audience cheering Newt as "the peanut gallery".

Since GW's first term, and starting with him, it's been one disillusionment after another.

It's funny...

The very first thought that entered my mind upon hearing her ridiculous defense of RomneyCare was, "She is dead to me now."

So I visit this thread and find the same thought expressed by at least two others.

If I had any of her books (I don't) I would wait for a book signing and dump them in her lap...maybe tell her to pass them around at her next mental orgy with Bill Mauher and his simian guests.

I also remember being a bit put off by her attitude during the 2010 midterms, when she kept harping on Linda McMahon (who was running against Richard Blumenthal for Senate in Connecticut) being associated with professional wrestling, and how such a background was far, far too déclassé.

She has been showing her East Coast Establishment sympathies for a few years now.

Plus, I did not hear her coming to the aid of Peter Schiff when he was going up against McMahon, so apparently at the time she was all too willing to accept the Establishment's pick of McMahon!

I guess she wanted Blumenthal all the way!

She is such a compromised hack!

Damn Romney whore sold her soul.  BUt she started down that road when she joined the Rovian's and attacked Tea Party candidates.  She is dead to me.

Anyone who paid any attention to me (yea - right!) knows that I've been consistant about a couple of things.

1. 2012 would be a redux of 2008 wherein "they" would cull or neuter every conservative from the field until all you had left was the "socially acceptable" vanilla wafer.

2. Internecine warfare within the ranks of the pubbies would only serve to boost the dhimmicrats and only idiots would spend any appreciable time indulging in it.

#1 has already occurred and even Santorum has succumbed to #2.

I know that there are some who are pissed at me for my refusal to swallow the blue pill for mittens and I'm OK with that. No matter what happens I'll continue to be comfortable in my own skin and I'll have no problem sleeping at night.

I bet (someday) Annie is going to rue the day she sold her soul...

Yep.

I'm on board too.  We don need no stinkin' president.  What we need is
two houses with sets of balls each.  Reference Newt's 1990s work and he
didn't have the senate.  With a solid house and senate Obama will be
impeaced and the Congress will be in charge - Yeah Jim DeMint.
I see Newt's consultant firm a growth industry in the near future.

I have personally decided that I am willing to accept the re-election of Obama by my refusal to vote for Romney. I am no longer rewarding the GOP for their captive electorate strategy. How else are we to change things? We've seen time and time again that they are steadfastly unmoved by acts of positive reinforcement (i.e. the electoral success they have when conservatives are energized), hell they're more than just ambivalent about it, they react against us for it! Negative reinforcement is the only other option.

Seriously, if we're to the point where our only hope is to continue voting for Dole-Bush-McCain-Romney-McConnell-Boehner types, then the game has already been over with longer than any of us would like to even know.

She lost me with her fawning over Christie, and her alliance with the GOProud group.

I haven't always agreed with her, but this is the worst column I've ever seen her write. I listened to Levin's rebuttal, and it was spot-on. I was already at the point that I will never buy another one of her books. Now, I will never read another of her columns.

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned it, but as recently as the CPAC conference in February (video on the thread above), she was ranting on about how if Romney was the nominee, he would lose. Then it became clear that Christie wasn't running, and she comes out with this? She is dead to me.

The problem with the strategery of surrendering the presidency to obama while at the same time,
ensuring that we capture the senate and keeping the house with a few additional seats,
is making sure that the people we elect are not moles, otherwise, we are screwed and tattoed.

She succumbed to something; get a load of this, from Fran Porretto (http://www.eternityroad.info/index.php/weblog/single/columnist_as_machiavellian_kingmaker/):

An excerpt:

Quote
... in today's Daily Caller, there just might be a hint of something better peeking through the distasteful surface of Coulter's unprincipled stance:

Later in her appearance [on Sean Hannity's radio show], Hannity asked Coulter who she thought Romney should surround himself with as president. She said that she “better have his ear” and recalled an encounter with Romney.

"Did I tell you I met him at a fundraiser?" Coulter said. “I went up to him. I was about to leave. But I said -- I just wanted to go up to him and tell him, 'You owe me and you better be as right-wing a president as I’m telling everybody you’re going to be.'"

Coulter said she also plugged Christie to be his running mate, but said the former Massachusetts governor said "oh don't worry" or something to that effect.

I won't mince words: This is an ugly move. It's a power play by a columnist, admittedly a columnist with a large and energetic following, by which she hopes to gain influence over a candidate whom she thinks has the best shot at unseating Barack Hussein Obama. By choosing this course, Coulter has left off being an opinion-monger and is bidding for a "seat at the table" of practical Republican politics. She might think it's the best shot available, given current circumstances and the dispiriting crop of Republican candidates.

I wouldn't call that "something better peeking through"; I would call it an ugly move.

Go read the rest at Fran's; there an interesting Woodrow Wilson anecdote there.
