Appears to be preparing:
*Palin - Recent hires and overseas tour seem to be paving the way, I fully expect her to enter the contest.
Dark horse:
*Bolton - I think he could add an interesting dynamic to the debates.

-Huckabee (ugh!)
-Trump (seriously?)
-Paul (The Elder) - He was winning a CBS online poll, last I saw...looks like typical online vote troublemaking by leftnut trolls to me!

I don't think Trump would make a bad VP. At least it would be a strong business background that I think we need.

As for Radioman's list, I'd have a hard time holding my nose and pulling a lever for Romney, Newt & Huck, especially the latter two...
...I sure hope it doesn't come down to that!
I think the top 7 are OK, although Daniels the Compassionate & Santorum give me some pause...they might be on my "if I have to" list.
Probably too early for Bachmann, Rubio & West, but I woldn't get in their way, but I like where they are right now and I definitely think seeking their endorsements could be huge!

Trump is as unprincipled as they come. He's been a big supporter of Democrats. And he's a clown. He's a playboy who could never hope to capture the votes of social conservatives. Anyone who hopes to win needs to appeal to all facets of conservatism.

I mostly agree with your assessment. With a couple minor quibbles.
Rubio is such an unknown quantity mainly because he hasn't shown anything (that I'm aware of since elected. Other than to shun the Tea Party Caucus)
Bolton wouldn't put up with any crap. But, I feel he's a little neo-conish.
I would add DeMint as my favorite if he ran.
West sounds good but inexperience would nail him.
Don't know enough about Cain but think I mostly like him. Bothered a little with his ties to the Fed.
Paul the Younger interests me. You could say the same thing I said about West. But, he has a legacy of principles without the baggage.
Now, Palin. I like her. She has more balls than most of the rest of the bunch.
But, she's weak on immigration and has a little neo-con streak in her.
But, I would vote for her and work for her
