When I grew up, Weaver was synonymous with the O's team and winning record every season.
Every year with Weaver as manager, the Orioles had a shot at the pennant because he had brought knowledge and statistics to the game. This was all before free agency killed the game.

He baited umpires and thrown out more times than I can count and was one of the first to make it all part of the show. We'll miss him terribly. RIP Earl! ::hat-tip::

Interesting he started off originally as a Cardinal and Stan the Man passed a day later.

“On my tombstone just write, ‘The sorest loser that ever lived,’ “ he once said.

Heh.

R.I.P. Earl.
