Was this a man-caused disaster dry run? (http://gatewaypundit.rightnetwork.com/2011/03/camp-pendleton-on-alert-after-middle-eastern-men-attempt-illegal-entry/)

Camp Pendleton in California is reportedly on high alert after three Middle Eastern men tried to repeatedly enter the base last weekend on multiple occasions in multiple vehicles.

From KGTV (http://www.10news.com/news/27377448/detail.html):

Naaem, Petrossian and Avanosian were photographed and released after questioning, and a warning about the trio was posted to law enforcement.

However, later that morning about 8:30 a.m., Naeem returned in the Toyota and tried to get on the base again, saying he made a mistake and was trying to enter Interstate 5, the alert said. After his vehicle was searched, Naeem was issued a letter of debarment from the base and escorted to the freeway.

I'm sure they just made a wrong turn on their way to meet the Smiths, the Johnsons, and the Millers for dinner.

Investigators at Camp Pendleton said the men asked the attendant for directions on how to get to Camp Pendleton before they left the gas station.

According to the alert, shortly after midnight Sunday, a rented silver Toyota Corolla driven by Naeem attempted to enter Camp Pendleton through the main gate. As it was being searched, Petrossian and Avanosian drove up in a black Mercedes, but were told to wait. Instead, they continued past the gate and onto the base. Following a short pursuit, the Mercedes was stopped and searched

Naaem told base security he was lost and was trying to go to Glendale. When interviewed, Petrossian and Avanosian said they were lost and trying to go to Glendale. The three men claimed not to know each other, the alert said.

He told 10News the Camp Pendleton incident sounds like a possible probe or dry run and said their visits raise a few red flags.

These persons should have been held in custody until all questions about their activity were resolved.  Then, if absolved, extradited. Other wise, hanged sewn into pig carcasses and buried at the gate entrance.

I thought the same thing as soon as I heard this today...well, okay, not the pig part..but I don't understand why they were let go.

Part of what I so like about you, CO, is your moderate and reasonable response to most things.    ::cool::  ;D

They should have been detained.  I hope they review and tighten their procedures.  And all bases should be on a similar footing.  You trespass on a federal reservation, you forfeit certain rights, period.  I know they have a balancing act and do not want to upset legitimate civilian traffic into bases, but security is security, especially since 9-11 for God's sake!  So tighten it up, and hold 'em for civilian authorities if nothing is found!  Sure sounds like a fricken dry-run to me!  Should have secondary mobile security forces backing up the gates too!

 Why is this stuff even on the news??? Grab them and ship them to Cuba just long enough to establish their innocents if they can't throw the keys away.Give the rest of them something to think about.

They have to follow procedures, especially when it concerns civilians and they did not commit a crime per se.  They did the right thing in informing civilian authorities, but just because of the people involved and the oddness of it that appears to be a dry-run, they should have at least been held.  The local FBI office could have sent agents over to interview them and get their identities, and that info alone could have aided in identifying possible threats.

Maybe they did call the Fed's, but I suppose their still too busy chasing down Tea Party people and teaching others how to identify true threats to the nation.   ::)

Thank God they didn't have Gadsden bumper stickers.  Then we'd really have a problem.

Yeah, detention, full cavity search and Federal charges of trespassing at a minimum for that scum, eh?!

 ::facepalm::
