Japanese gotta feel cursed.
Then again...coastal area prone to tsunami, quake zone, volcano zone...building a nuke plant on the edge of mother natures swimsuit area probably not the best of ideas...and insufficient safety features...

Yeah I'm rather surprised the Japanese would have ever built a nuclear reactor in such a vulnerable spot. You would think with the fear of radioactivity embedded in their postwar culture that it would have been a tough sale to put one anywhere, let alone right on the coast.
