The Lafayette Sheriff's Office is releasing more information about a shooting in Lafayette this morning.
It happened around 1:00 this morning in the 100 block of Calypso Lane. Deputies say the 13 year old victim had traveled with an adult relative from Baton Rouge to Lafayette. The two were meeting a juvenile female the teen boy had met on Facebook. The three were visiting in a car in the 300 block of Calypso Lane, just down the road from the friend's home, when a car pulled up behind them and gunshots began. Investigators say the 13 year old boy was shot once in the torso. The other two people in the car were not injured. Deputies have not been able to establish a motive for the shooting and asking that anyone with information to contact Lafayette Crime Stoppers at 337 232-8477.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he remains with non-life threatening injuries.
WTF were 2 13 yr old's doing out at 1 am? And where were the parents? My children were in bed by 11 pm at the LATEST and that was on week-ends with no school. The ONLY exception would be if they were with me and/or the wife. No way in hell would I allow my child to be out at 1 am to visit ANYBODY! ::pullhair::

But, yeah, 1:00 in the morning? No wonder they do so poorly in school...lack of a proper nights rest.

Of course "family" services never run across these families until some huge disaster like this, finally strikes. They are all too busy harassing some well functioning but home schooling family.

Well, like they're taught in "journalist's school" today (and for the last 20 years or so), report on and print those things that will change the world. Including the race of anyone involved in a crime would be counter productive to that end goal.
