They aren't forced to go after him. They want him gone. We've seen over and over again, this jusctice department simply will not pursue and prosecute what it chooses not to, evidence be damned. Menendez is on the regime's sh*t-list, and his criminal activity gave them an excuse to go after him, and that's all there is to it.
