Humans should not drive cars
« on: October 12, 2011, 11:03:23 PM »
I went to pick up my daughter from work today and as often happens I was early and was greatly entertained during my wait.  First, I some great music playing and an excuse to be doing nothing else.  Second, I got to watch all these other people picking up others from work too.

It's a wonder these people even figured out how to get the key in the ignition. Oh, right, they're doing away with that.

So there's a crowd of cars trying to get out of the parking lot and one dude trying to pull into the lot.  Because so many are leaving he can't turn in.  Does he go to the next entrance where he could easy get in?  Nope.  He sits there with his signal on blocking traffic behind him on the street and people who need to get out of the lot.  Finally, he eases just into the entrance and worms his way across the stream of traffic and makes it to the other guy he's picking up.  Does he pull into an empty space?  Nope.  He blocks another lane to load up his passenger.

I, of course, am waiting in the designated spot for pick-up out of everyone's way.  Some woman pulls up next to me (she's not in the designated pick-up area).  After a second car blows the horn at her she realizes (I think) she blocking everyone behind her.  She pulls across another lane from where buses pull out.  And you guessed it-- blocked a bus.  I rather enjoyed hearing his horn.   ::hysterical::  Honestly, I think she had no idea what she was doing--in a giant, white SUV on the PHONE!

How is it you manage to hit my buttons so often, woman?

Vehicle.  Phone.  This is not hard.  So often I have seen these chickies cross the parking lot, climb in the bulky vehicle, fire up the phone, THEN attempt to back out of the parking space and maneuver out-of-lot.

Is this hard?  Does it need an instructional?  Apparently it does.

ETA:  Oh, and I don't wave other drivers to go who are waiting to turn against traffic anymore.  They're not paying attention, THEY'RE ON THE PHONE.

I didn't want to pile on but the woman in the white whale almost hit another car as she attempted to back up one-handed.

That's when you feign an injury and scream profusely...
