I looked up his record, started as a bubblehead on attack subs and boomers, pretty solid career lot of recognition...

If a fairly straight arrow looking chap can fall prey to the lure of post-service riches...it is almost certain others have/are doing to same now...especially in latter day lax contracting practices, little oversight/consequences and rubber-stamped funding bills...

I recall a news story about flag rank officers. In order to reach flag rank naval officers had to command a ship of a certain size.
So many of such ships were built recently even though they were not needed.

Also, in WWII four stars had x number of troops under them. Now it is 63 times x.
When the law becomes a ruse, lawlessness becomes legitimate. -unknown

All flag officers don't get there without major commands...it's not size of ships or planes or tanks...it's operational commands...and WWII by its nature had a sh*tload of flag officers...4 Admirals, 2 USA Generals and 1 USAF General made it to 5 stars...  War on a global scale ramps everything up, especially conventional like that...

Conventional war now days will be short-lived...it's just what follows may or may not be so swell...
