MoonbatteryThis could have also gone in the Military or Environment section, but given the ultimately political nature of it I figured I'd stick it here.
Evidently, the Navy has been ordered to work with the Department of Agriculture in sourcing several hundred thousand gallons of a biofuel in place of its standard JP-5 jet fuel. The biofuel costs the Navy (read: me and you) $16 per gallon. Ordinary commodity JP-5 jet fuel is less than $4 per gallon. It gets better. The company providing the fuel, Solazyme, is connected to TJ Glauthier as their "strategic advisor". Glauthier was a member of Obama's presidential transition team, and he contributed to the energy policy in the porkulus bill.
There really is a different outrage every single day. And that's kind of the point -- what can you really say for a citizenry that tolerates one outrage after another? One comment at the above link:
nsane.
There is something fundamentally wrong with a people who will tolerate this. A healthy society would have run this guy out on rail long ago.
Do not lose focus on just how important this next election is.
The bolded part is what concerns me most about our current state of affairs. I sometimes can't shake the feeling that our civilization is decaying because we no longer have a civilization that even deserves to thrive.
