Well, for Latter Day America...

...it could have been much worse.
Still, this is gonna leave a mark...a big nasty puffy purple kinda mark.
Speaking of marks, what do you make of this ....

... specifically as to how the payments (checks) apply to one's 2020 tax returns/refunds?
Just reading as much of that as I did gives me a headache and further convinces me the entire IRS code MUST be junked for a simpler streamlined process I suggested to my asshole Rep back in 1984! And as far as I can tell it dicks with your 2020 filing...some could potentially have more liability as a result...because how many let the government "bank" more than they are entitled to? MOstly lower-wage morons who get anything they paid in get returned...though how that works when porkulus exceeds withholding could be funny for them.
That tooka wee bit of thinking. It appears that this program extends into 2021, when 2020 taxes are fled. The gauge
is really this year (2020) income. Next year when a person files their 2020 tax return if there has been a change in
income or situation that was not reflected in 2018 or 2019. An income increase in 2020 that would put a person or
family above the threshhold basically would be forgiven. If income was significantly less, or if a new child was added
to the family in 2020, or in 2019 after your filed your taxes. Then you would be entitled to a credit on your 2020 tax
filing. Basically if something changes and you could either get a credit on 2020 taxes owed, or if Salary exceed maximum
under the Care Act, Oh well! No Provisions were put in the plan to recoup what you were given. One instance described
was if you claimed two children under the age of 18 in 2018/19, however one of the children turned 19 in 2020, you
won't have to pay the 500 back.
