We had a chilly snap here, then it warmed up again to the 80s. But the squirrel tails are bushier than I've seen 'em for a while. Ma says that happens in anticipation of a cold winter. Old Wives Tale?

Squirrels and chipmunks are gorging on them. This didn't happen last winter, which was mild, but it did happen the two winters before that, and those were winters of record cold and snow on the east coast. I think there's something to it.
