I’ve been consuming a whole lot of lectures and podcasts on health and metabolic science over the last year. There are a whole lot of statistics that seem to show a correlation between “normal” or “low” metabolic markers and mortality. The problem is that when people are at the end of life, things like BP, cholesterol, A1C, and other markers tend to normalize. If you look only at numbers in the aged population, you would correlate things like low blood pressure, lowering A1C, and low cholesterol with death. It’s not because those lower markers are killing the aged. It’s because when the body begins to move toward death, these markers come down.
