I had a number of classes where group assignments were frequent (I have a whole separate rant about the banality of group work in education) and that is when you really, painfully, become aware of the intellectual ineptitude of so many students. I would read things written by others, and so often not just the grammar and syntax, but the logical constructs, were virtually unintelligible. The educrats have really done a disservice to students, and to the country as a whole. I would say their worst offense is not so much the lack of particular knowledge, but the totally incurious state of mind they produce. These kids were not only ignorant, they had no interest in improvement.
There is still a font of knowledge in a university, but it's very much a proposition of getting out of it what you're willing to put into it...and that's before you even take into account the deliberate obstruction and obfuscation by the Left.
