Our Pentagon to our Troops

"If you don’t want to be shot in the back by your Afghan training partners, the Pentagon advises, don’t offend their religious sensibilities."

Last I heard nobody, no one in Congress, is calling for Dempsey to resign.

Tell me how this is any different than blaming a rape victim for the rape because she dressed in a manner that "asked for it"?  Both are elevating the savages above the victim, right?

I would sack Dempsey in a hearbeat and issue a new directive, let the Afghan walk in front of you while you have your sidearm ready to rock.  Strike that, if I were in charge they would not be there, period.

We should be there a little longer.  We should be there a little
longer with a set of ROEs written by Patton...maybe a month.

(sigh)

Just so tired of seeing preventable deaths...how does this bastard sleep at night, what does he tell the families of the fallen, or does he just delegate that off on someone else...

I would be court-martialed if I drew that duty!

"Sorry, dear, your husband/father/son died a needless death because of the passive ROEs insisted upon by the Obama Administration which the Pentagon brass did nothing to resist."

Why not "teach" their troops? With every passing moment, my distain for everything Muslim grows.

My response would be this.....if a Muslim insults your culture, whether intentional or unintentional, shoot them in the back. We will not tolerate our way of life insulted in such manners. The mussie troops need sensitivity training so they are not shot.

Heh.  In a world that made sense, perhaps.

As it is, the asshats would never even consider it.

Extending CO's desire for a Patton type in theater, can you imagine the epic explosion if Georgie encountered such utter imbecility?

I'm right there with ya Don. I see one, and something turns in my gut. I think it's hatred. I don't want it, I don't like it, but it's there.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

My son came away from Iraq with an undying hatred for the muslims in particular and arabs in general . Of course his company suffered 33% casualties while there so it's hard to blame him .

Prejudice (according to the dictionary definition, not the Leftist redefinition) exists for a reason.

When generalization leads to wisdom, and wisdom leads to discernment, sometimes the most logical conclusion is prejudice.

I am prejudiced against Muslims and Arabs. It's a logical conclusion.

If we had real political and military leadership we'd see a better attitude in the ranks.

As did my son. He knows they are a disgusting race of people.

I'm just grateful that both your sons survived their encounters with these sub-human animals.

Prejudice and stereotyping are nothing more than survival strategies. Yes, they can sometimes be ugly -- but what isn't in the law of the jungle?  Personally I think it's such a deeply ingrained cognitive function that it explains why so many people have an intense aversion to spiders and other bugs. These are tiny creatures that are completely harmless to a grown human being, except in very few instances. Because those dangerous few are impossible to discern from the benign ones, the proper survival strategy is to be averse to anything fitting the template.

In the case of Muslims, it goes beyond mere survival instinct. There is a rational argument to be made for viewing them with suspicion, because there is ample evidence that they are especially dangerous to have in your vicinity.

Robert Putnam wrote a book, "Bowling Alone", about his research into the effects of di-VER-sity via multiculturalism on society.  (And then he held up publishing it because he didn't want to do so without finding a way to "ameliorate" the ill-effects, then denied he did so, then accused people of twisting his words.)

What he concluded was that di-VER-sity and multiculturalism causes a deterioration of societal trust, even among members of the same racial/ethnic groups.  People's trust in everybody is reduced, resulting in less "community" participation and activity.  I haven't read the book, but I suspect this is because, even among one's own "group", one cannot anticipate whom one can trust to speak to honestly without having the other turn around and deride one as racist/sexist/bigoted/homophobic/etc.

Many conservatives-at-large will absolutely not admit that di-VER-sity is NOT our strength, that Black racism is rampant and very dangerous, that illegal aliens have not added a damn thing that is good to our country, and that islam is not a "religion" of peace and is at war with everything not itself, always was.  Individual 'slims may be good people but there's no way to know which are poisonous without lengthy and frequent exposure and to my way of thinking, it just isn't worth the risk.

Now, one cannot be assured that saying that out loud, even in our Christian churches, will not result in being pilloried (and you'd THINK the massacres of Christians all over the world by muslims would be a prominent subject; it's not).
