I knew all that merger-mania would consolidate more into fewer hands...

...but pretty stark when you look at that chart!

Well,  these mega corps are the results of flim flam government regulation and tax law.    There is a reason why the big American banks are so much larger then other nations big banks.  Regulation and tax law, pure and simple.     Unlike governments,  businesses,  even corrupt crony big businesses have to follow the bottom line.    Even big business stacking the deck towards themselves have unintended consequences that even they don't see.

It results in mergers and buyouts.   And these huge monster companies that would never otherwise be.     Its not the market at work by any means,  though liberals will use it as examples of the "failure" of markets putting much wealth in the hands of a few.    The truth is, that it is an example of not allowing the market to do its work.

These mega companies are playing with fire, as the government,   at the end, is making the "rules".   They will regret it someday.    They get big and lazy, then become about as flexible as a government agency.    Until of course some politician makes it a government agency when these companies will someday be "nationalized".    That is the end result "progressive" politicians want.    How many people like big companies?  That's right,  nobody.   And the masses will cheer when that "justice" happens.    Never mind that government will lose that wealth faster then you can read these words.

The irony of Barry's speech at Mandela's funeral the other day,  is that his policies of his regime are creating what he spoke against.   He just wants the wealth at the disposal of people like him,  rather then the "evil" businessmen that created it.

Big businesses are becoming the dupes of the progressives.

At least at the moment,  those big companies,  at minimum do the public some good.   They do provide some decent services and products,  something the government could never do.

But the danger is the actions of big government.   Of course most miss the truth and take in the evil business line provided by the astro turfing  government.

"The truth is, that it is an example of not allowing the market to do its work."

Yes, the drift began (oddly enough) with the rise of progressives and unions and has been accelerated by wars and political cronyism.

"Big businesses are becoming the dupes of the progressives."

Ever more so.  And it is why things that are bad for people are good for crony markets and crony companies...and often merger and acquisition are the only economical tools left to survive...the JP Morgan school of survival by destroying the competion is in ascendance, the school of doing things the right way for the right reason and bringing products and services of real value to the people is dying out...cheaper to mass-market cheap crap from China and skim enough net income to keep things going.

And the political corruption in picking winners and losers through taxes, regulation and outright theft as so skewed the marketplace that the dysfunction is becoming normal and expected.

Once the Ruling Class is dealt with perhaps sanity can begin to return to all corners!

I'm not faulting large corps for wanting to pay less taxes. I'm in the same boat myself.

Yeah, I'll buy that.

How many do that though and then give to ruling class jackasses who rob us all?  Too damn many!

Every "soak the rich" scheme ends up soaking the not so rich.   Happens every time.

We have to get the mindset out of people that in order for the common people to "win"  that rich people have to "lose".

I don't care whether you make very little money or billions,  the government has no right to it.
