The changes create several new categories, besides clothing, of religion-based features that can be displayed by troops. These now include facial hair, such as beards, and religious tattoos and piercings.

Can't believe they are allowing all of this crap. Next thing you know troops will look like this.

There are many reasons the military has such strict standards on how a person should look and dress while in uniform.
Here are some of the reasons they don't allow many looks.
1.) short hair - Sanitation and the ability to wear certain items of combat gear.
2.) Beards - Looks and ability to wear some combat gear.
3.) piercings - Health and professional presentation.
4.) some tattoos - Health and professional presentation
5.) head gear - Uniformity
6.) clothing - The military make these to meet stringent standards and to .... you know... be uniform!
I know there are more reasons than what I have stated but these are what came to me right off the top of my head.

This is code for " watch how many muzzies we can get to infiltrate our armed forces."

Or they could end up looking like this.

Probably just getting at him I'll wager! All those guards are probably more concerned about keeping him away from us than keeping him from escaping!

Right now, in the case of the Army and marines, I can't recommend young men or women join at this time. My son is in Afghanistan, by choice, btw, with a private contractor. He thinks moral has slipped. The rules of engagement are horsechit and apparently marines are dying and we are not hearing much about the deaths.
Since the muzzies know our engagement rules, he's told me they are pretty bold, riding scooters close to base, assembling as their may be an attack, stuff like this. Plus, it is the locals who are contracted to cook and deliver their water, which makes for uneasy eating or drinking.
He has been in a firefight. What made it frightening is a suicide bomber, on a scooter, drove into the fence and blew a hole in it and even though he is private contract, many of them ran to assist and found marines waiting TO RETURN FIRE!!!! until they got the ok. which, in his words, seemed like forever. Two marines were shot and if it wasn't for the Apache helicopter swooping in and taking care of business, my son didn't know how long it would have taken to end this...... and according to him the helicoptors are being removed as they move out.
So no, no way I would join today.

Hoo boy. I hate -- HATE -- hearing this stuff; it makes me furious that our people have been made sitting ducks.
Prayers for your son's safety and soon return.

It is a sad state of affairs and it pains me to even float this suggestion, but might it ultimately be a good thing that the US military is determined to make itself less competent and capable? After all, they're now pretty much open with the fact that their wargaming and "continuity of government" plans center around us as their enemy.

Absolutely, is what I say. Because of the last part of your statement. Those on whom we could formerly count to do the right thing are leaving and being driven out. This is good for us because they're now out here *with* us, and that includes their families. I figure anyone still in that has family will ultimately find said family's continued well-being to depend on their, err ..... cooperation. IYKWIMAITYD.

Get 'em out of there...I just can't stand hearing stuff like this...just enrages me. I want the good eggs with us, let Uncle Sam have what's left. It's really the only viable option at this point.

Let. It. Burn.
It is now in your best interest to help the Former Republic Crumble to the ground. Delaying this only delays the inevitable death of the system and gives our enemies more time to prepare.
