Too old to be given cancer treatment: NHS is 'writing off' patients who are over 75

Young lung cancer sufferers are only 10 per cent more likely to die within five years than their continental counterparts

But pensioners with the disease have 44 per cent less chance of survival

The figure for stomach cancer – at 45 per cent – is even worse

Pensioners with cancer are being written off as too old to treat, campaigners said yesterday.

They cited figures showing survival rates for British patients aged 75 and over are among the worst in Europe.

Young lung cancer sufferers are only 10 per cent more likely to die within five years than their continental counterparts.

But pensioners with the disease have 44 per cent less chance of survival.

People in those sad predicaments used to at least have the option of coming here for treatment, and many of them did. We even had premieres of Canadian provinces coming to the USA for treatment, rather than using their own socialized system.

They should have listened to their own Sir Winston, who noted that socialism's single virtue is the equal distribution of misery.

Fine.  Over a certain age with cancer, I be dead?  Then, I got nothing to lose, do I.

Welcome to Obamacare. He owns it.

He may own it,  but we are stuck with it.

Medical tourism could be a good business in the near future.   The problem,  places like India are far away.   And as time goes on fewer people will have money too.

You won't have to go that far, if people can afford it, it will be available in the underground economy...and if the Fedcoats crack down too hard all many will do is set up shop just across borders.  What are the Fedcoats going to do then?  Prevent people from leaving?  The comparisons to the East Bloc/Iron Curtain will be as hilarious as it is tragic.  But I see our libiot friends being more in tune with the totalitarian nature of genocidal regimes like that than with the enlighted liberty of our Founders, so not much of a stretch for libiots to go from here to there, eh?
