From WTTC News in Dallas, we get this heartwarming tale of a long-time criminal, 33-year-old Deyfon, who tried to climb in a window of a Texas home.
The elderly owner occupant saw him and fired one shot, ending Deyfon's criminal career.
As the police do, they came by to investigate, gathered the corpse, then went to notify Deyfon's family of his unfortunate demise. It seems that the family was very upset, because they showed up at the scene.
"He could have used a warning," Lakesha Thompson, Pipkins' sister-in-law, complained. "He could have let him know that he did have a gun on his property and he would use it in self-defense."
COMMENT FROM THE SIDELINE: "That's certainly true, Lakesha. He could also have invited him in and given him a beer, then helped him cart the TV out to the curb.
"Unfortunately for Deyfon, Texas is a Castle Doctrine state, and the homeowner chose to shoot Deyfon, as is his right, and proper to do in Texas.
"For that matter, Lakesha, you could have warned Deyfon. Why didn't YOU tell him: 'Deyfon, yo' needs to quit breakin' into dos peeples' houses an stealin' dey sh*t. Sumone gonna pop a cap in yo'ass.'"

Good advice applies to people dealing with citizens too, not just the poh-leece, Lakesha!

I'm glad the writer of this article followed the lead of that University by omitting any reference to the perp's race. Now I'll never know what Deyfon and Lakesha's persuasion is (was).
Oh, Lakesha, you think "He could have let him know that he did have a gun on his property and he would use it in self-defense"? That's the default assumption in Real America. In Real America breaking into someone's home is a great way to find yourself catching high velocity lead. I'm so glad Castle Doctrine laws include civil immunity for people forced to defend themselves with deadly force, precisely because of people like you Lakesha.

On a strictly positive note, the people of Texas were just saved a sh*t load of money and the court system will not have to place a certain amount of time for the docket if the idiot survived. ::beertoast::
On another note, think how much grief this man saved the offenders family. No more worrying about arrest, money for bail, money for trial lawyer, trips to the penitentiary,parole hearings etc... You bury the dirt bag and never look back. Chances are this asshole would have stolen his sister's kids game console and anything else he could make a quick buck with so why is she so upset?
