One more American hero has left us. SSgt. William 'Wild Bill' Guarnere of "Band of Brothers" fame died yesterday March 8, 2014 at age 90. He lost his right leg in the Battle of the Bulge, was with 506th "Easy" Company of the 101st Parachute Infantry Regiment, thru D-Day, Market Garden, Battle of the Bulge. Wounded numerous times and winning the Silver Star, Purple Heart and many others.

As these true heroes cross the bar, my sense of loss for our nation gets worse.

Few if any WWII Vet's left, these frail husks give way at some point...Korea Vet's not far behind...soon the Vietnam Vet's and all of our generation will muster out.
