...what do we honest folk not wishing to get ensared in a fishing expedition or inadvertent misstatement trap to do?

For Android devices about all you could do is go to Settings - Privacy - Factory Reset...it will wipe everything...if you have your numbers backed up, not a big deal, that's about it I am affraid...

Maybe somebody else knows the iPhone process...
