::facepalm::
How does something so obvious get overlooked?

Go with the lowest bidder and things get overlooked. In the F-35B case the heat problem was addressed by Boeing but it drove the cost up. Buy the F-35B for $X/aircraft and then install $100X heat abatement system, or go with supplier B at $1.5X/aircraft and be done with the expense. Government should be run like a business, where every angle is investigated before a dime is spent.

The right cronies coughed up the right contributions to get awarded the bid...that's how stuff gets forgot...

"Solutions are still being sought".
Won't solve current problem, but to deter future f**k ups, how about finding out who's responsible and hanging them?
-
Scratch too deep and a politician or high-ranking bureaucrat will be found guilty...
And it takes balls to do that...and hang 'em...
I see no balls...
The hangings will be up to others...
