Title: Russia Kindly Asks Bulgarians to Stop Painting Over Their Soviet Monuments
Post by: Glock32 on August 21, 2014, 07:52:56 PM
Evidently Russia's triumphalist Soviet-era monuments aren't being shown sufficient reverence by people in their former Eastern Europe satellite countries.

This one in Sofia, Bulgaria has been repainted numerous times:

I kinda like it.  It's sort of using US-type myths to stick a finger in their eye.  Oh, and I'd like a purple leather trench coat, plz.

Yes, I noticed the Soviet flag in the background was repainted as an American flag.  And the purple trench coat does have a bit of a Batgirl vibe to it.

If Russia gets pissy about it they can always melt that crap down.  Since most were made of bronze and contains mostly copper use the copper for other stuff like bearings and any arsenic could be sent back to Russia via aerial dispersion.

In short, what Dan said!
