So far...looks like the comet won...

Not a total loss.  It's got some pretty cool pictures.

Turns out it did make a successful landing: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/space/11222612/Rosetta-comet-landing-live.html (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/space/11222612/Rosetta-comet-landing-live.html)

But it's currently up in the air whether its anchors successfully fired or not.  The gravity is very weak, so the probe needs to be anchored into the rock.

I can remember a time when NASA could have done something similar instead of appeasing Muzzies. ::unknowncomic::

That pic could be my hip joint in another decade or two!   :o

Per the link it bounced.  Something must have not been accounted for in the programming or a bad sensor or something, or the misjudged conditions on approach, comets tend to throw a lot of crap off and vent gasses.  Impressive image though, scraggly old ball of dirt isn't it?

It would look extra special in place of DC.

They downloaded a ton of info before it went dark and will go over the data and present it at a conference in San Francisco next month, wonder if we'll here of anything super surprising?
