In the queer community hard work is getting the statists to use the force of government, that way all the whackos that make up that community are happy because normals are oppressed, and nothing excites any whacko more than making normals unhappy...

What they've actually accomplished is making people like me, who had previously had a very libertarian live-and-let-live attitude about them, become much more stridently opposed to them.
It's never been about "tolerance" because tolerance is exactly what they now have. It's about forcing you to ratify their otherness and endorse it fully. It's about forcing you to modify your own values and cultural institutions to fit with new definitions of their creation.
They have proven, as with all Leftist causes, that there is no such thing as live and let live. Everything about the Left is totalitarian. It's never enough to allow the Left its own portion of the political and cultural landscape, because it insists on owning everything.
