I really feel for the Floridians, and all others affected, but they really missed it in their predictions for us. Flooding as far north as Atlanta, from the outer bands' rains, and flash flood warnings were issued for us (4-6" of rain), 120 miles north. Also predicted for us, wind gusts of over 40mph.
When I went to bed last night, the "eye" was predicted to hit Atlanta at 8AM, us at 10 AM.
When I got up, it looked as if the eye was already ill formed and appeared it would bypass Atlanta, which it eventually did, or what was left of it.
The eye was predicted to pass very near to us (SE TN) but there was no eye left. Between yesterday and today we'd be lucky to get 3" of rain, badly needed, and wind? Really nothing to speak of.
I think we may still get maybe an inch or two of more rain from now until tomorrow, but coming as it has been--mostly a slow drizzle--it will be most appreciated, no flash flooding.
No power outages in the region, so I hope our local electric service providers will dispatch their linemen to the worst stricken areas to help in the recovery--no power is a real bitch.

We have a big high pressure here in Northern plains and extending West...seems this storm is butting against that, reckon it will swirl and get forced to the East/Northeast maybe...or it just sits over Tennessee valley and spins itself out...

The areas worst hit, western NC and east TN, are only about 85 or so miles northeast of me, and we got squat compared to what those poor folks got. I've always tracked the eye, as do most storm watchers, which went almost directly over us, or what ever was left of it.
No more.
It's the outer bands of wind and rain that are most destructive. And the ones on the east side of the hurricane, which is what these folks got, seem to be the most destructive ones of all--winds going from south to north heavily laden with rain.

The federal government does not want to help you. It has been actively trying to kill you, and attempting to interfere with anyone who gets in the way. This attempt to shut down donations and volunteers in Tennessee is no different than the attacks on all the doctors, nurses, and people speaking out in public about the dangers of the vaxx. Numerous people on social media are reporting some form of the following:
The feds are confiscating donations in Tennessee
Red Cross and FEMA/TEMA has arrived and all donations that has been given to local high school volunteers have been CONFISCATED.
Starting with Davy Crockett High school, They are taking over all volunteer schools in Washington Co, & Greene County.
In order for anyone to get donations that was given they must be approved.
All monetary donations have been taken as well and placed into a TEMA account. If you are unaware of how that works- those items doesn’t all get used for this particular disaster.
Volunteers have been asked to leave, and was told in order to help they MUST be trained by United Way.

Multiple whistleblowers have come forward to expose the mismanagement at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) just as Hurricane Helene devastates the southeastern U.S.
According to a letter from Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), whistleblowers allege that FEMA withheld critical pre-disaster funds and failed to issue deployment orders to first responders, leaving Americans stranded in the wake of the storm.
In a bombshell letter sent to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) outlined a litany of complaints from whistleblowers across federal, state, and local emergency management agencies.
According to these whistleblowers, FEMA’s failure to release necessary funds and provide clear orders has left “hundreds if not thousands” of service members and first responders in limbo, as they sit idle in hotels while the southeastern U.S. suffers the devastating effects of Helene, according to the Daily Mail.
The allegations come as FEMA’s credibility continues to crumble under mounting evidence of gross mismanagement. This follows Mayorkas’s admission that FEMA “does not have enough funds to make it through the hurricane season.”
How is this possible, given that Congress just approved a $20 billion emergency package for FEMA? The whistleblowers claim the agency is diverting resources to other priorities—specifically, providing aid to illegal immigrants and using taxpayer dollars to cover the costs of border enforcement failures.
The Gateway Pundit previously reported that over $1 billion, which should have been used for American disaster relief, has instead been redirected into resettling illegal immigrants through programs like the “Shelter and Services Program.”

For example, one woman in Asheville, North Carolina says that thousands of people are missing and that there are still “bodies hanging from trees they haven’t gotten to yet”…

The TT user says cold trailers are overflowing with bodies.

Another local woman is claiming that there are more than 900 bodies at a local hospital in Asheville which still have not been identified…
There are reports that Mission Hospital in Asheville North Carolina was told today, that they will be the morgue for body recovery. As of a few days ago, there were reports of 900+ bodies at the hospital that haven’t been identified.
There are also reports of babies and children washing up in the river, and more reports of bodies in trees.
An insurance agent Hana’s teammates went to drop off supplies in Asheville and set up relief tents yesterday. While setting up they saw four babies, three children as well as adult bodies that were recovered from the mud and trees.
National guard member Breona Bryant has also mentioned that they are seeing dead children. Those doing rescue operations are traumatized and many survivors of the storm are suffering from survivors guilt.
Please keep in mind that Asheville is just one of the cities that was absolutely devastated by this storm.
There are hundreds of others that are dealing with dead bodies as well.

Hurricane water moves very fast. It is dirty water. You cannot see anything submerged. You cannot stop what will crash into you.

The current will beat you to death. You will be pushed into buildings, boats, other debris, and under trees. Fireants form balls and float. Gators and sharks are in that same water. Sewage is in the water. Coffins, bodies of people, and animals float by. There are venomous snakes swimming by.
A life vest is designed for calm water.
In my area, snakes will head for higher ground. Water moccasins come to mind. All manner of insects do, too. Ants, fire ants, spiders, termites, and roaches, etc. The hurricane this time brought larger insects to my area. Rodents live by water. They head to higher ground, too. Rodents attract snakes.
After hurricanes, even if you aren't in a hard hit area, you will do bug control, check to see if you have snakes in the yard, clean up the yard and do necessary repairs. Strong Cat3 or above-evacuate!

Now, hopefully the investigation includes the chain of command...because either the crew was briefed on proper relief stations/areas to approach and land and failed to properly follow them, or they had not been briefed and or never involved in such operations before. Because IMO a proper investigation needs to include the chain of command not just the crew!
