I think he did good.  Does this rise to MOH standards?  I get real uncomfortble going there, my insticts say Silver Star for sure, and I'll leave it at that.  But I applaud his effort to stay in the fight while wounded and doing what he could to protect his fellow troopers.

I get what you're saying, and the valor of the Sgt. is totally legit and indeed worthy of commendation. Yet I had an uncomfortable feeling that this MoH award was intended to give our manchild president an opportunity for a PR "do over" in the wake of his unconscionable gaffe at the last one.

It totally sucks that he has to cast his vile shadow over the honoring of any vet merely by his physical presence and oft documented lack of character!

I immediately had the same feeling . Silver Star ? Yes , definitely . DSC , maybe . MOH ? Doubtful . At the same time I don't want to take away from Petry's valorous conduct . I imagine he may be wondering too .

Yup.  And if he is a good guy, and I have no reason to think different, he will be humble and use the award to honor those he knew who also sacrificed, some of whom did not make it home.  A part of any award for bravery is also intended by association to honor all who served, and in that I am hopeful Petry will be a fine representation of that tradition.
