Title: Oh Oh, Not a Good Start for Sukhoi commercial aviation!
Post by: Libertas on May 09, 2012, 07:44:59 AM
A Russian Sukhoi Superjet 100 passenger plane with 46 people aboard has gone missing on a demonstration flight in Indonesia, reports say.

If any kind of mechanical failure this venture is toast.

If any kind of pilot error this venture has a lot of explaining to do before their reputation can be restored.

If terrorism we need to move this thread.

Planes just don't drop off radar suddenly without reason, the proximity to mountains begs an obvious search starting point, I guess we'll find out soon enough what happened.

46 souls on board though...

The Religion of Piece is resurgent over there, wonder if the Russians
employed any Muslim mechanics over there?

Evidently that particular mountain is known as an airplane graveyard.  It exerts an unusual influence on the prevailing winds and can cause rapidly changing conditions. But yeah, not an auspicious beginning for Sukhoi.
