Maybe the mods will merge...After all, there is a general depression and there's the
Official Obama Recession (http://www.cnbc.com/id/100419252)
::unknowncomic::
-
Yeah, even using the BS so-called "official" numbers failure has been achieved, but who cares? For the low info voter (the new majority) it's still Bush's fault, the evil Republican House's fault, everybody's fault but Der Fuhrer's fault.
-
How in the hell can "experts" be perpetually surprised, disappointed, shocked, whatever, at the economic performance when every lay person can see it comin' a mile away?
"Experts"!?!? Propagandists is more like it.
-
You keep telling the truth Dan and all I'm gonna do is like you more! You really want that? ;D
Experts! Meh! Paper-hanging statists! ::mooning::
-
Well, I am surprised. I figured we'd keep limping along as long as we were printing a trillion plus per year, until we had a major currency crisis. I didn't figure we'd slip right back into recession right away.
SCoaMF. Still able to surprise.

-
YES. Yes I do.
And your avatar is comin' true, Hawk.
-
What did they call it when he first came into office? A decline, not a recession and not (heaven forbid) a depression.
-
Pretty much everyone between the ages of 20 and 50 have effectively had an entire decade of their prime earning years destroyed. I'm now 35 and earning barely more than I did in my first job out of college, though effectively it's less since I wasn't paying nearly $4/gallon for gas back then. We're on track to see the first generation of Americans live lesser, more meager lives than their parents' generation.
"Surprise"
"Unexpected"
Every damn one of these stories breathlessly qualifies the report with one of those words. When it's always "unexpected" doesn't that mean it's actually....uhh..."expected"?
-
Not for an "expert".
-
These stories today are coming with
It's not as bad as it looks.
Every bleeping story.
-
So, not only not slow growth or no growth, but negative growth aka shrinkage. So much for "Forward"; we're going backward.
And Levin said last night that the recent tax increases "on the rich" have just been spent on the Hurricane Sandy bailout, plus -- PLUS -- the Feds borrowed another ten billion for it as well.
In my minds eye, I see Obongo sitting alone, smiling slightly to himself; it's good when a plan comes together.

The Orwellian Speak reaches new levels

We really need a saved upside down flag emoticon.

Stole it from the Democrat Underground. ;D
-
Yup, walkin' talkin' bullsh*t 24/7, it's no wonder a low-info voter is dumber than a stack of cow patties...

They use the word "unexpected" as if that some how makes it ok or less of a problem. Or I guess to condition us not to blame that man currently in the White House.
How could it be unexpected?
Sales at Christmas were horrible...way, way down. And they had predicted sales would be up.
I think they're making it all up now.
-
They've been making it up for quite a while, these clowns in this Regime are merely more gifted at it.
We produce economic activity out of thin air, ask Bernanke, he's at the heart of it, once the music stops people gonna be real angry...shootin' angry.
No surprise the full court press is on to take guns away, they know their time is running really short...

Zimbabwe is worth $217.00 American and it now prints
trillion dollar notes. Hey, Bennie, print it up a
little faster.

I am a little late to TEOTWAWKI. I have lots and lots of guns and ammo. Been working on food storage for a while but I am not comfortable. I only hope that I can get to the comfort zone with food storage before the sh*t hits the fan.

Me, too, although I'm doing the best I can. Dear husband isn't totally board for shtf so I'm on my own mostly and doing much of it on the sly sometimes. ;D But he's gets being prepared for a natural disaster (power outage, etc) so he got us a generator, extra lights, etc. As long as I can frame in those terms he's ok.
He's a good man, not stupid, but he's a product of a two parent family, where the husband takes care of the family, works hard and does the right things and all will be well from that. Reality has been hard for him where no one gives a shti and personal responsibility means doing what you want without regard to the effects on anyone else.
He was let go from his job on Monday.

Aw jeez. And life just got more difficult and complicated for y'all.
Sorry, LV.
-
What is included in that -0.1% is all the activity moved into the 4th quarter to avoid the tax increases. NEXT quarter was supposed to be the bad one...along with the effect of the 2% payroll tax increase.
-

Sorry, LV.
yep.
Hard to think right now. Need some time and space.

Sorry to hear that LadyV. Remember, when God shuts a door, He opens a window. Your family will be in my prayers.

Sorry to hear that LadyV. Remember, when God shuts a door, He opens a window. Your family will be in my prayers.
Thanks. I keep telling myself that God is with us and even when it's looks dismal it isn't. And when I look back every scary turning point in our family's life has in the long run been for the better. He called all his friends--professional and personal and no one is hiring. So I guess we'll trust that it will all work out.
Thanks for the prayers. I'll take them!
-
Prayers for you and yours are on the way.
-
Aw, crap, Lady V. I'm so sorry to hear it. Stay strong and make the most of any opportunity.
-
That's a tough one LV, your family will be in my prayers. Hang in there!
-
thanks all!
I debated saying anything. I mean, who'd thunk it-- a conservative not out looking for sympathy??
But I kinda like y'all and I felt stupid not mentioning it.
-
thanks all!

And well you should! Why the hell do ya think we're here.
Praying, Lady. Hang in, it'll work out.
-
LV, this just means one door closed, but another opened somewhere....
-
Sorry to hear it LV. Maybe if you've ever thought about doing something like moving to a different part of the country, this could be an opportunity to do it.
What line of work is your husband in? Apparently the economy is doing pretty well in Texas.
-
That sucks, LV. And now with all the unemployment extensions ending. Good luck.
-
thanks,thanks,thanks
Briefly, we've pondered moving as soon as we heard. And will again but at this moment we need to get over the shock and then we'll get practical.
Our house is on a private road in unincorporated county which is one thing we love about it which unfortunately is the one thing most others wouldn't love about it. Plus, the housing market isn't kind in this area. People here want McMansions and this house is definitely not one of those.
Husband is a tax accountant.
The one thing about Texas is it's full of Texans. Those people are nuts. ;D
Looking for that opened window...
-
The good thing about taxes is that one can always set up anywhere and do people's taxes. I even read a story about a CPA setting himself up in a bar.
Good luck with the husband.
-
Yes, Good Luck!
-
I even read a story about a CPA setting himself up in a bar.
That would be just a little too convenient for me. ::snoopydance::

More unemployed every day...

And as we all know they only way the Regime can articifially lower the official BS U3 number is by removing these people from the work force denominator, and then there is this -
Obama Regime Ends "Jobs Council" after two years and 4 meetings (http://www.usnews.com/news/politics/articles/2013/01/31/obamas-jobs-council-shutting-down-thursday)
All of this adds up to one thing - the Obama Regime is saying this very loudly - ::doublebird::
All part of the master plan, destruction is necessary, your suffering is designed to advance the statist goal of total enslavement of every living soul!

I think it goes without saying that the December jobs/employment numbers warrant resurrecting this thread.
Now for the fun...this from the PuffHo: (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/01/10/unemployment-labor-force_n_4575024.html)
Before we go high-fiving each other about unemployment falling, we should consider the reasons for it falling, which aren't quite so high-five-worthy.
Unemployment fell to 6.7 percent in December from 7 percent in November, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported on Friday. Unemployment has plunged from 7.5 percent in June and is way down from a high of 9.9 percent in 2010. All of which is good news.
But: One reason for the big drop in unemployment in December was that many, many people dropped out of the labor force -- 347,000, to be exact. They stopped looking for work, which made them no longer "unemployed" in the eyes of the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
This is the latest episode in what has been a fairly dramatic flight from the labor force since the Great Recession. The "labor-force participation rate," the percentage of working-age people who either have a job or want one, has tumbled to just 62.8 percent, the lowest since 1978.
It is funny seeing this on the PuffHo. The comments that follow it are instructive, too.

If the prevailing theory at ZH is correct, the ever-increasing band of quiters is composed primarily of younger folks, who being younger folks are much more easily convinced that evil powers are conspiring the deprive them of not just the American Dream but of basic standard of living...and as such make fine recruitment material for nationalists and anarchists to exploit in fomenting revolution...so we all better start appeasing this group or you know what you'll get!!!
-
so we all better start appeasing this group or you know what you'll get!!!
An arrogant snot-nosed Pajama boy sitting on a couch in my basement playing Xbox and texting on his iPhone?
Seriously, the majority of the younger crowd are so coddled they can't change a tire, they have been taught an unnatural fear of guns, and that pouting about their problems gets others to fix them. They only get what they want if there is a police state in place, and they can't do that while people are armed, and they cant take the guns without starting a Civil War. And who will fight in this war? Pajama Boy? They have created an entire generation that believe saying you care and wishing will make it so.
I think Japan like scenario is looking more and more likely in regards to these kids.. I don't see them taking to the street, and if they do, I see them as a problem for the would be tyrants rather than as a boon. TPTB already have the votes and political power. They need the physical power now at this point, and these kids won't make much of an Army. These kids have been indoctrinated to hate the rich -and love government, but its becoming obvious there isn't any difference between the two.

Heh. I figured that would generate some action!
Let them try to recruit the pajamian's...they might whack more of their own than anybody if they are that useless! ::hysterical::
