But yeah, he doesn't thrill me on some things but he got some things right and as a man seemed decent, cannot say that about the clowns carrying the torch for his party now...

One of my favorite people, in fact. I saw him give an interview years ago and he was lamenting the low state of political discourse between citizens. His plea "it's politics, not personal!", in stark contrast to the Alinsky approach taken by so many others, won me over.
"A liberal with a brain!" I think he described himself as.

Perhaps that was true then, I dunno, but I know it isn't now -- ALL politics is personal.
