So. . . I have been taking a History of Middle East course this semester. I knew since day one he was socialist, and to be frank I'm a skip away from getting black-listed for the semester for 'heated debate' we have. But, This last two weeks we have been covering Castro, the spread of Islam, and the Israeli conflict. while I am happy to know the Socialist Muslim view on matters, my little UN Lawyer is currently preaching religious hearsay as fact. I wish I had a tape recorder. . .
Why do they let this man teach? He spent last week telling us how America was evil for hating Castro and Capitalism was a parasite, and this week telling me about the 'Jewish Problem'.

Do you have a smartphone? Then you have a recording device.

I had an instructor when I went back to school in 2003 who was an absolute overt socialist. Claimed it outright. Problem was, the classes he taught had nothing to do with politics.
I challenged him at every turn, and he hated it. But because I a) comported myself with professionalism and cheerfulness, and b) studied my ass off and got straight As in every single class, he had no choice but to give me what I went there for: my grades and my degree.
Not only that, but I earned the title of class valedictorian, and being that he was the head of the business department, he was selected to introduce me and my speech. I could tell it grated him to say nice things about me. It grated him even more when I used my speech time to correlate my academic success with personal responsibility.
Be the best you can be friend. That is your best weapon.

IDP has more tact than I...so I'd go with his recommendation! ::thumbsup::

I'd like to hear his answer to whether or not the repeated attempts of Muslim invasion into Christian Europe are as bad as those dastardly Crusades. Muslims always bring up the Crusades as if they happened last week, yet the Crusades didn't start until centuries after the Muslims had started their own acts of aggressive expansion.
I bet he'd not only cite some BS justification for it, but also repeat the Muslim theory that the highwater mark of their territorial aggression constitutes their "rightful" lands to this day.
We're here today only because the generations who preceded us weren't a bunch of navel-gazing, decadent, effete little eloi like the modern West is. Charles The Hammer, Vlad The Impaler, not to mention the warriors from all over Europe who halted the scum outside of Vienna.

The Looming Tower pretty much explained that no one was thinking about the Crusades until the late 1800's when some Arab activists thought it would be handy to stir up animus against the west and then in the 1930's into the 50's is was used to really bring the hate against the west and use it to recruit.
The idea that the muslims have never forgotten the Crusades is BS. And yes, the Crusades were the result of Muslims conquering Christian areas of the world pretty much unabated. The Christians united and off they went. The later ones were a mess in that a Crusade became a way to further one's own goals but the early ones were full of people desiring to protect the Christians and their heritage.
