I thought this was pretty good. Predicated on a chain saw, probably, but saves a lot of wood compared to your average camp or cook fire.

The only problem I see is how many btu's do you get burning this way compared to old fashioned burning? Normally you could burn 1/4 or 1/2 a log at the same time and get the same effect, but you'd have to load it more often. But isn't the point to sit in front of a roaring fire while enjoying your brandy and a good book?

He calls it a Swedish torch, implying its for light-- not heat.
