Title: Detroit first - Chicago next?
Post by: rustybayonet on December 10, 2013, 08:35:46 AM
Interesting article, Is Chicago going to follow Detroit into bankruptcy? Article is long. [Saw a headline on unions mad about upcoming vote on the internet this morning, but can't find it now - wonder why?]

Both Chicago and the State of Illinois are bankrupt right now; they just have not admitted it.

The one thing that stuck out for me in this article - 'the city can borrow unlimited amounts without a vote?

I read the piece.   All too rare work by the Tribune,  which largely ignored these things when Daley was in office.   Daley's "legacy" only gets worse looking.

How are we going to stop politicians from kicking the can down the road?
